goose chase

As I am finishing up the binding on my nephew's eagle quilt, his sister has been talking more about her graduation quilt!  My Magpie will be graduating in December and she's really excited about her quilt.  I'm going to use this pattern, Goose Chase by Mark Lipinski.  This was published in Quilty magazine (July/August 2013).  Magpie has always liked flying geese blocks so this is the perfect quilt for her.

We went shopping yesterday (Labor Day sales) and bought seven  or eight different turquoise fabrics.  I'll sub turquoise for the black and red for the pink.  She also asked that I use a white on white text fabric instead of flat white.  Boy, that girl really knows what she wants!

a whole lot of pj sewing this summer!

This is my sister teaching Sarah how to sew.  Sarah loved her pjs and the top MaaMaa appliqued for her.

Here I am teaching Surina how to show-she chose "nonfiction" fabric!

And then my sister and I used left over fabric from her own pjs and Surina's to make little SoSo a pair-fiction and nonfiction legs!
And finally a pair of pjs for baby Samie.  We used this Dr Who fabric in two and a half pairs of pjs!  I opted to put elastic at the ankles of these as Samie is learning to crawl and I figure it will be more comfortable for her.

I also made a pair of pjs for Magpie out of the Dr Who van gogh fabric.  I cut the waist shorter as she usually wears pjs low on her hips-but I may have cut them too low.  I hope she is still able to wear them! That used up three yards of fabric-plus I have mostly sewing a pair each for my boyos!

been knitting

So apparently, 'tis the season to be knitting.  This is the second edition of a baby hat for the family caboose.  I had to rip out the first edition because it was too small.  This is the best pic I could get because this little girl is never still!
This is a chevron hat for Magpie.  The pattern is from a Simply Knitting magazine.  Pretty much knitted this one twice as well-the chart was wrong in the magazine.  I really should trust my instincts when I'm knitting.

This is bad pic of a quick scarf I knit for my other niece-two strands of yarn knit together on size 19 needles.  She was thrilled!  Hmmm, all of this knitting is for nieces!  I actually do have one other knitting project to show-I knit dad a new Harry Potter scarf.  Need to get a pic of that one!

getting started on Christmas gifts!

Aren't these aprons adorable?  I saw them in a magazine and just fell in love with them.  These will go to my 6 and 7 year old nieces.

See what you can do

It's amazing what you can do when you have a clear table!  These are some blocks for the Saturday Sampler at my LQS. I really like the ...
