yellow baskets

Finished up these blocks last night but will set them aside temporarily as I need to work on the purple menace for my niece.

Easter China Hutch

I really need an Easter appropriate teapot for my china hutch.  I felt like I needed something taller right there in the middle behind or instead of the butter dish.  (I always put colored tulle in it so it will be more visible.) I made this little 30s mini quilt a few months ago so I put that in there. My bossy sister says I need something yellow there instead of green so I pulled out my 4 inch Qube and got to work yesterday.

I'm currently planning to make nine total of these little baskets and then . . . maybe a one inch sash with tiny cornerstones? Tiny yellow border?  It will be fun to see! (I haven't forgotten my Cynthia England project but when my sister bosses me. . .)

a Long weekend. . .

Made the last Thirties block for my 2018 Ramona baskets.  I'm nearly out of my favorite Kona Snow so I will have to wait to finish until I can order some.  I looked at the setting Ramona provided for the Civil War fabrics and will at least do the setting triangles and border.  Isn't this a sweet block?  I just love Thirties.

And here is the first block for Goose Chase.  I wanted to see how the red looked with the turquoise.  I hope Magpie likes this quilt when I am finished!  I like to include a little "joke" fabric when I make a quilt.  Can you see it?  One little flying goose made of turquoise 30's!!

Finishing up blocks. . .

Loving my 30's blocks.  I have one more to do and then I'm finished the basket blocks.
And here's the Civil War repro one:
The blue and yellow 30's block above is the same pattern as this one!

No. 10

This photo is a little washed out but here's block number ten.  I haven't made the 30's block yet. Two blocks yet to go!

My September blocks.  I knocked these out yesterday so I will be ready for our Ramona group this upcoming Saturday.

Love me some 30s!

I just love me some Thirties!  This brown print with the little girl ironing is one of my very favorite fabrics ever!
Each month I make one block out of the Civil War repros that come with the BOM and then another with my thirties.

They are going to be so sweet together when I finish the BOM.

The Basket BOM

This is a better picture of the Basket BOM quilt plus a picture of my completed Ramonas crossed out. Only four to go!

Block #8 for my Ramonas.  I have made one of block 13 but neglected a picture!

Seven

This is Ramona block number seven.  Tomorrow morning is our block day so I had to knock this one out pretty quickly.  I was really busy in the beginning of July and planned to make this block during my vacation.  But instead I had a car accident and did absolutely no sewing.  I still need to make my 30's block.  Maybe tomorrow after the meeting.
I thought it would be fun to start marking off the blocks in the quilt.  This is a horrid cell phone photo but it will do! This is a monthly block program but you can see there are thirteen blocks in the quilt.  The final block will come with the finishing kit.

Thirties Ramonas

Aren't these blocks adorable?  I think I like them better than the Civil War repro baskets.  New block next Saturday . . .

These are my April and May Ramona blocks.  I really am enjoying these baskets.  We have another Ramona day on Saturday so I will be making another block them for June.

Blue Ramona

This is my second 30's basket block.  I made this yesterday and really enjoyed it.  I've need to remember to be careful how I cut the basketweave fabric.  I think I only have a yard of it.

Ramona

Here is February's block for the BOM at my LQS.  Our leader's name is Ramona so I've taken to calling my blocks Ramonas.  One thing I need to remind myself each month is that Ramona only adds 3/8" when cutting out for her HSTs.  I prefer to add 7/8" so I have extra room for trimming.

I'm hoping to make my 30's block this weekend.

sampler saturday one

My friend and coworker convinced me to go to a Saturday Sampler at a LQS.  At nine in the morning. On a Saturday.  I'm not much of a morning person especially on a Saturday when I can sleep late or slob around in my pajamas all day.  But I went and it was fun.  You really have to be on time though!  If you aren't there before 9 you have to pay for your block!  To back up, the way this works is you pay $8 for block one.  Then if you complete each block and show up on the first Saturday of each month you get the next block free.  If you are late or can't attend, you pay an additional $8 for the block.  If you show up with a completed block (on time) you get entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to the shop.  Likewise if you bring a Show N Tell you get entered into another drawing for a gift certificate. It is a basket quilt and I've been wanting to make one.  I really like the 30's Block. I'm not thrilled with the colors chosen for the Sampler itself.  It screams 1990 to me but oh well. It will be fun!

See what you can do

It's amazing what you can do when you have a clear table!  These are some blocks for the Saturday Sampler at my LQS. I really like the ...
