Nearly there

Well I hoped to finish Vintage Housewife by the end of August.  I very nearly made it.  My dog died on Friday and I didn't have the heart to stitch at all. She was old and she passed in her sleep but it was still upsetting.

I'll keep stitching this week and finish sometime.

A cuppa

This cute little guy is for my sister. I meant to send it home with her when she was here last month but forgot.  Oh well, the delay gave me time to figure out which trim I would add.  Her favorite movie is Young Frankenstein so I think she will really enjoy this.

Still stitching

I'm trying to remember when I started this sampler.  I think I bought the pattern in 2021.  So I need to finish the block I'm currently stitching and then the large block at the bottom-it will be a clothesline with clothes hanging on it.  I'm telling myself I'll finish the borders when my sister gets here because I can do that without looking at the pattern.

More border work

I was felled by the rampant oak pollen this weekend but managed to sit quietly and stitch on the borders!  I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Goal for the week

My goal for the week is to meet the borders as shown here. I really hope they meet or there will be language!  I really need to get this gingham border finished so I can go back to filling in the fun stuff in the blocks.

Ripping out

So I was minding my own business stitching the gingham border on Vintage Housewife when I realized something was off.  If you look at that half finished block on the bottom I realized that there was supposed to be another row of two blocks to match the giant red block next to it.  I need some time to focus, count, and eventually rip out the stitches.

I was three stitches off! I'm really glad I hadn't started filling in the block!  I fixed it and continued stitching on.  As you can see, I'm actually stitching the border below the large red block now.  All nice and orderly and in the correct place.

Vintage Housewife

I'm still stitching along on Vintage Housewife.  I was going to start stitching the fun stuff in the remaining boxes but decided that future self would really appreciate it if I got started on the gingham border!

FFO

This cross-stitch pattern is from Kate Stitcher.  I really love it and I made this for my aunt who loves fall as much as I do!  This is my very first flatfold and I really like how it looks.  I  have a lunchbox full of embroidery and cross-stitches that need to be finished so I plan to do more flatfolds in the future.  The FQS youtube video was very helpful when I made this.

Cabinet and yellow mini

Here is where I am on my Cabinet of Curiosities.  I'm hoping to finish it soon because I'm ready to move on to another project!

And here is my yellow 30s basket quilt.  It's a  mini that turned out larger than I expected!  I'll use this to practice my rulerwork.

Vintage Housewife sampler update

Still slugging along on my Vintage Housewife sampler.  I really do love this but it takes me longer to stitch on 25 count evenweave.  It is so cute so I will keep stitching until it is finished.  I took this picture at the Urgent Care yesterday-had to take my nephew in so I grabbed this on my way out the door.

Cabinet update

Here's an in-progress picture of my Cabinet of Curiosities.  This was my Stitch Only At Work on My Breaks project but I've taken it home on the weekends a couple of times.  I love it so much.  Today on my morning break I started stitching a disected frog.

Cabinet of Curiositites

Stitchonomy offers a free stitchalong several times a year.  The October 2022 one was The Cabinet of Curiosities.  I didn't start stitching until much later so I am making slow process on my Cabinet.  So far I have stitched this great dragon:
Alyssa, the designer, also encourages people to personalize their stitching so I have chosen lots of items from the facebook group that I will be stitching in my Cabinet.  (Note: after the stitchalong is complete the patterns are available on the website for purchasing.)

And I just finished my first row of the Cabinet boxes.  As you can see, I haven't finished stitching the Cabinet itself yet.  It's no brain stitching so I am saving that for when I get stuck somewhere!

All the best people are!

I have finally finished my We're All Mad Here cross-stitch.  I bought this pattern on Etsy.  I love the wide-eyed crazy of this cat.  I found it difficult to stitch on the black aida of course.  I have poor vision anyway but this was a real challenge.  I usually stitch in hand but this required me to use a hoop.  I kept a white flour sack towel on my lap while I stitched but found that I really needed to have natural light. I had to look through the stitches to be able to stitch properly.  If you look closely at the smile below you can see how the black stitches really make the smile standout versus just leaving the background fabric.   I admit, I was tempted to just leave it and be finished!

A few projects to catch up

Keeping up with the Saturday Sampler.

This is a quilt that Red asked for years and years ago.  I made a mistake when I started cutting the appliqued circles in quarters so it has been in timeout for a long time!  I started working on it on day when my DH was using my cutting table and my ironing table for his project.  This was at hand and so I worked on it.  I think it needs borders to make it a little larger and then I'll quilt it.

This is a cross stitch I'm working on.  Boy is working on black difficult!  I already have vision issues so this has been a real challenge.  I don't know if I'll do another black cloth stitchery!

And finally this is a quilt kit that I've had for a very long time.  When the kit was packaged they didnt take into account how one of the fabrics ran so I replaced it with this dark plank fabric. I think I'll add one more border before calling it finished.

Needlebook

I started this cross-stitch so many years ago!  I find it very difficult to do (I have vision issues).  I finally finished it this weekend.  It will be a little needlebook for my aunt.  The inside is wool with a strip of felt for the needles.

A little sampler and a block

I made this little sampler for my nephew and his wife.  It's their wedding gift but it was a little late-like a year and a few days later.  Oh well, it's totally cute and I hope they love it.  I found the pattern on etsy. The pattern offers the charts three different ways: symbols, symbols and color, just color.  Well I used the color chart and it made it so much easier!  I will try to find more charts like that.

Miss September is for the Saturday Sampler at the LQS.  It was a pretty easy block.   Three more months to go!

See what you can do

It's amazing what you can do when you have a clear table!  These are some blocks for the Saturday Sampler at my LQS. I really like the ...
