Beans!

Jimmy Beans Knit Club for Jan-Mar.  It was the Moxie cowl and I was a little intimidated because of all of the different knit patterns.  I love it!

March Ramona

This is my March Ramona block.  I made center block twice because I didn't like my points chopped off. Grrrrr.

Horrible picture of a cute quilt

So I have loved this quilt pattern and fabric for a long time.  This is Wee Wander fabric by Sarah Jane.   And the pattern is Wee Wander Firefly Quilt by Amy Smart.  Isn't it adorable?  I changed the pattern by not using the pink or orange fabric.  I wanted this to feel dusky like I was really hunting fireflies.

The picture is a horrible, poor light at night, cell phone picture.  The quilt is actually really cute and the colors are much brighter and more saturated.  I'll try to replace it when I get a better shot.

Barn Star

So I finally finished my Barn Star (decided to call it that today when I was sewing the last two seams!).  I really like it.  All I need to do now is get backing and batting and send it off to Karen the Quilter.  Nearly all, if not all, of these fabrics are Jo Morton.

Big star

This is a project I started in November (I think).  I made a Sparkle Plenty quilt several years ago to hang on the wall behind my Christmas tree (the empty wall looked too desolate!).  Well, last year I washed that quilt with a yard of PFD fabric. Guess what happened?  All of the green fabric bled and permanently stained the muslin.  I tried for weeks to get it out but the quilt was ruined.

So this year I decided to make a new quilt.  I had seen a glimpse of a red, green and gold quilt that looked Christmas-y but not overtly so.  I think I saw it in an add for a Kim Diehl book.  It's all made of HSTs so I figured I could easily make one-plus I could mostly use fabric I already had.  So here you can see my HSTs laid out on my bed.  Last night I sewed the middle of the quilt together.  Looks good!

a Long weekend. . .

Made the last Thirties block for my 2018 Ramona baskets.  I'm nearly out of my favorite Kona Snow so I will have to wait to finish until I can order some.  I looked at the setting Ramona provided for the Civil War fabrics and will at least do the setting triangles and border.  Isn't this a sweet block?  I just love Thirties.

And here is the first block for Goose Chase.  I wanted to see how the red looked with the turquoise.  I hope Magpie likes this quilt when I am finished!  I like to include a little "joke" fabric when I make a quilt.  Can you see it?  One little flying goose made of turquoise 30's!!

Finishing up blocks. . .

Loving my 30's blocks.  I have one more to do and then I'm finished the basket blocks.
And here's the Civil War repro one:
The blue and yellow 30's block above is the same pattern as this one!

Things I made in 2018

I thought I'd make a list of things I did make in 2018 so I could feel good about myself!

  1. Eagle Quilt for my nephew.  It was very hard and my aunt says it's the best quilt I've ever made.
  2. I did a full tushe adjustment on a pattern and made two pairs of better fitting pjs for Tig.
  3. finished my Patriotic Pineapples quilt
  4. made DH's anniversary socks
  5. made my Bandolier shawl
  6. made a bunch of blocks-including finishing all of the blocks for my PA Dutch quilt that was started a very long time ago!
  7. made a pair of cabled fingerless gloves
  8. made a wavelength shawl
  9. knit the socks i'm wearing right now-I didn't list those on Ravelry and I  need to.
  10. I made my star wars halloween quilt-which is weird because I don't really celebrate halloween.
  11. found out i'm anemic!

Goals for 2019

I can't believe Christmas break is over and I'm headed to work again on Monday!  After reading about Jo's completed BOM, I decided to start my list anew.

  1. PA Dutch-needs sashing and borders
  2. Chocolatier-needs blocks
  3. Cool Yule-needs sashing and borders
  4. Ramona's baskets (civil war): one block left then assemble and make the borders
  5. Ramona's baskets (30's): need to make three blocks, then assemble and add borders
  6. Shelby's graduation quilt/goose chase-this one is the one that has really slowed me down
One the plus side, in December I found out that I am anemic and that's why I'm exhausted all of the time.  I started taking iron so I am hopeful that will help with my energy level and I'll be able to sew when I get home in the evenings. Plus the new Saturday Ramona started today!

The fabrics are batiks which I normally don't care for.  In fact, I was going to use civil war repros but I really like how this one looks, so I bought the batik block.

I need to make of list of things I completed this year.  That will make me feel better!
