Big yellow

Tig prefers all things yellow.  I opted to use a patterned stitch on this yarn because it is so plain.  That made this knit take forever-and he had big feet!  I was touched that he immediately put them on.

I used Opal color #5182 and the pattern is Classy Slip-UP from Knit Socks! by Betsy Lee McCarthy. 

And yes, I immediately cast on for some NBK!

Moving right along

Knitting right along.  I'm keeping the pattern going on the foot.  I really hope this fits him!  I did the foot over 33 stitches. I am continuting the pattern on the top of the foot and have added one plain knit stitch on either side of the pattern to make the transition smooth.  I'm going to knit the foot on 72 stitches.  I hope it works out.

Very nearly at the heel. I think I'll do the leg at 7 inches.

Timeout

I was having some cramps in my forearms and my sister put my knitting into a 72 hour timeout.  Not knitting just feels unnatural!

Yellow enough?

 Do you think this yellow is yellow enough for Tig?  I am using Opal color # 5182.  This yellow has a bit of orange in it that doesn't show up well in the photo.  I am using the Classy Slip-up pattern from  Knit Socks! by Betsy Lee McCarthy.  I cast on 72 sts and knit 17 rows of K1,P1.  You knit one row plain and then start the pattern.  I really hope Tig likes these.  I do kind of want to cast on a pair on NBK socks but I might focus on those socks instead so maybe not!

I thought I had a ball of another yellow opal sock yarn somewhere but maybe I used it for my sister.  She is also a big yellow fan.

It's a TOP

It's a finished top.  Well, I say finished.  I'm going to have to shorten the top and bottom borders-I think they are too long to fit the batting!  I bought a twin size batting on sale for this quilt.  Still need to make the back and then I can send if off to Karen the Quilter.

She may have been onto something. . .

So Susie may have been onto something!  This doesn't look bad at all.  It currently measures 87 x 58 as it lies in pieces.  When sewn together it will be a bit smaller.  I may do a stop border to go next to the binding.  So my goal now is to make all the blocks I will need-seven maybe?

What to do what to do

So I was totally stuck on my Camp Peanuts quilt for Tig.   As I lay awake with insomnia the other night the first step occurred to me: Take the Darn Borders Off!

 This is how it looked with the borders on.  I mistakenly put these on thinking I was further along than I was. (Wishful thinking!)

So I took the borders off. Kind of a fresh start like. Not bad. If this was for a baby or toddler I'd probably stop here.

I had made several blocks, meaning to use them before adding the borders. Should I add them to the top or the sides?  My friend Susie recommended that I use them on the side and add the previously removed borders to the top and bottom.  That might just work.  I'll lay it out tonight. I'll probably remove the red sashing between the existing blocks.  In any case, more blocks must be made!
